Provincial police chief, Fazel Ahmad Shirzad told Ariana News that the operation was carried out in Bala Bluk district of the province where the foreign forces also supported the Afghan forces through air and ground.
According to Mr. Shirzad, at least 38 Taliban fighters including their local commanders were killed during the clashes and airstrikes and many other militants were injured.
Local residents of the district have claimed civilian casualties during the clashes, but the police official rejected such allegations.
The Taliban group has not made a comment about this report yet.
Farah is among the volatile provinces in western part of the country where the anti-government armed militant groups are actively operating in some of its districts.
