AVA- According to the local media reports, citing Pakistani military sources, Gen. Bajwa is expected to participate in a meeting of the Chiefs of Defense.
The sources further add that the Afghan army chief, commander of the US Central Command, and the US forces and Resolute Support Commander Gen. John Nicholson will also participate in the conference.
The sources in the ministry of defense of Afghanistan as well as the governmental sources have also confirmed Gen. Bajwa’s arrival for the talks in Kabul.
His visit to Kabul takes place as relations remain strained between Kabul and Islamabad mainly due to the circumstances surrounding the fight against terrorism.
The ministry of foreign affairs of Afghanistan said Sunday that no decision has been taken regarding the continuation of talks with Pakistan in the framework of Afghanistan-Pakistan Action Plan for Peace and Solidarity (APAPPS).
Foreign ministry spokesman Ahmad Shekib Mostaghani told reporters that no improvements have been made on issues critical to Afghanistan during the second round of the talks.
Mostaghni further added that the Afghan delegation did not receive clear answers regarding the subjects that are important for Afghanistan and therefore no decision has been made so far to continue the talks.
According to Mostaghani, specific, results-oriented, time-bound measures in the APAPPS, particularly in the areas of counter terrorism, reduction of violence, peace and reconciliation to meet the priorities of Afghanistan are the top priorities of the Afghan government.
He said discussions were made regarding the topics but no developments were achieved.
