Afghan forces have arrested three would-be suicide attackers in eastern city of Jalalabad en route from Pakistan, officials said Tuesday.
AVA- The three insurgents were arrested late Monday by the intelligence operatives from Police District ۳ of the city.
The provincial governor, Gulab Mangal, at a press conference said that they were carrying ۱۵۰ kilograms of explosives in a car.
He said that the militants were aiming to kill civilians in a heavily-populated area in Nangarhar.
According to the official, one of the arrested was a Pakistani national from Quetta while the other two were Afghans.
Pakistan has long been accused of sheltering militant groups, but Islamabad denies the charges.
The latest arrest comes as Pakistan is under increasing pressure by Kabul and Washington to tackle militant sanctuaries.
