Interior Ministry of Afghanistan on Monday officially handed over management of Kabul traffic services to municipality.
AVA- Acting Interior Minister Wais Amad Barmak, who signed a protocol with acting mayor, noted that the traffic police remain related to the Interior Ministry.
He said that henceforth, Kabul traffic will have a board of directors chaired by Kabul municipality, deputy chaired by police chief.
Meanwhile, Abdullah Habibzai, the acting mayor of Kabul, said that the aim of the move is to create better coordination for better provision of traffic services.
The municipality plans to set up a traffic control centre, traffic signals, issue electronic driving licenses, launch campaigns on traffic rules, and build bridges and parking lots, he said.
