As many as 35 Taliban militants were killed in U.S. drone strikes in Afghanistan's eastern province of Paktia on Tuesday, officials said.
AVA- Fifteen more were injured in the strikes which happened in Topsar, Manai Nara, Koch Haram, Bamsar, Shidey Nara and Zondosar areas in Patan district, the provincial governor’s office said in a statement.
Taliban commander identified as Abu Bakr Afridi was also killed in the raid, according to the statement.
The strikes targeted Taliban bases linked to senior Taliban commander Hafiz Rashid.
Several light and heavy weapons, a minibus and four cars were also destroyed in the strikes.
The strikes come a day after a U.S. drone attack targeted a meeting of Haqqani fighters in Pakistan’s Kurram Agency, near the Afghan border, killing at least 26, according to local media reports.
