Afghan government approves six new projects worth 300 million Afghanis
The Afghan government has approved contracts for six new projects worth 300 million Afghanis during the last meeting of the national procurement commission.

AVA- Chaired by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the meeting was organized in ARG Palace and was attended by government officials as well as the international mentors including representatives of SIGAR and Resolute Support mission, the office of the president said in a statement.

The statement further added that the contracts approved during the meeting include both construction, procurement, and other contracts.

The contracts approved includes 3-kilometer road construction from Kabul-Parwan highway to Teachers Township, contract health services for the mothers and children in remote parts of Paktia province, and procurement of 47 items needed by the ministry of public health.

The other contracts approved during the meeting include renting of machineries for road projects in Baraki, Qala-e-Zaman Khan and Bagrami, procurement of telecommunication equipment, and procurement of consumable items for the government.

The meetings of the national procurement commission are organized on weekly basis to review the projects and approve them for execution.

The commission is believed to have played a key role in controlling the projects in terms of costs and possible grafts, and is considered as a major initiative by the government of national unity in the fight against corruption.
