AVA- The American University of Afghanistan (AUAF) on Thursday launched a Special Scholarship Fund financed by Afghanistan United Bank (AUB) with the initial contribution of $100,000 USD to the scholarship fund.
The gift agreement was signed on Thursday.
The signing ceremony was attended by the CEO of National Unity Government (NUG) Abdullah Abdullah, representatives of national and international organizations, government offices, local and international media, AUAF’s students and staff and faculty.
Addressing the ceremony the CEO reaffirmed Afghan government’s enduring support and cooperation to AUAF, noting that the university was one of the outstanding academic institutions in the country.
“We consider American University of Afghanistan as a center of excellence,” Abdullah said.
According to AUAF officials, the scholarship fund is aimed at supporting those Afghan youths who cannot afford their expenses to continue their education at the American University of Afghanistan.
The officials said that to achieve the scholarship, the students need to pass all examinations at the institution.
“I tell you we will not only endure, but prosper in the years and decades ahead and will continue to fulfill its founding mission to prepare Afghanistan’s leaders both in public and private sector of the economy ” said Kenneth M. Holland, the AUAF president.
The AUAF officials also announced that the university will honor at least 25 women entrepreneur in October who are graduated from the same university.
