Taliban attacked a security check post at the dam killing the policemen and making off with their weapons, officials confirmed.
AVA- At least 10 policemen at Salma Dam were killed in an attack in western Herat province on Saturday night, local officials said on Sunday.
In addition, four other policemen were wounded.
The attack took place after Taliban insurgents stormed a check post in Chesht district of the province.
The insurgents also managed to get away with most of the security forces' weapons at the check post, a spokesman for provincial police chief, Gelani Farhad said.
“Four Taliban insurgents were also killed in the clash with security forces,” Farhad said.
However, he did not provided further details about the attack.
Taliban have not yet commented on the attack.
