This institution published a report and said that Afghanistan's GDP has decreased by 20.7% in 2021 and by 6.2% in 2022.

The report states: "While Afghanistan's agricultural and subsistence economy, including illegal opium production, has created some capacity to deal with this problem in rural areas, rising prices, reduced demand, reduced employment, and disruption of services have had severe impacts on rural areas. 

According to the World Bank, during this period, the number of families who did not have enough income to meet basic food needs increased from 16% to 36%.

The World Bank has noted that the international community has changed the way it supports Afghanistan and supports basic services.

On the other hand, the World Bank has stated that the current government of Afghanistan has improved the revenue situation, if in 2022, the revenue was 2.2 billion dollars or 15% of the country's GDP.

The report of this institution also states: "Nevertheless, general economic activity was limited, the unemployment rate was high and the banking sector had abnormal activity due to restrictions on international transfers and concerns about liquidity and loan repayment."

The World Bank has warned that economic stagnation in Afghanistan will continue until at least 2025, and this will increase the level of poverty and unemployment.

The bank further recommended that Afghanistan needs to focus on agriculture and mining to improve its economic situation, because agriculture is an important driver of economic growth and reduces poverty.
