America's veto of Palestine's full membership in the United Nations

He added: Since 1988, the leadership (of the autonomous organizations) has shown its desire to end the conflict and has given historical concessions. The conflict between Palestine and Israel has gone beyond the borders of the two sides and has been extended to other areas as well.

 

The representative of Palestine stated: Full membership in the United Nations is a right that we must achieve by international decision and not through negotiations. Anyone who stands in the way of a decision for Palestine to become a full member of the United Nations will not help increase the chances of peace in our region.

 

He emphasized: Our preoccupation with the case of full membership in the United Nations does not make us forget the all-out war that is taking place in Gaza. A large part of the Gaza Strip has become uninhabitable. Meanwhile, settler attacks against our citizens in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem are increasing.

 

The representative of the self-governing organization also said: The international community should not allow any party to assume that it is illegal and immune from punishment. The responsibility for the encroachment on the Gaza Strip rests with the countries that arm Israel.

 

Also, the Secretary General of the United Nations said in a speech at the Security Council meeting to review the granting of full membership to Palestine in the United Nations: The Middle East is on the edge of the abyss and only one mistake is needed to turn into a wider and destructive conflict.

 

Antonio Guterres added in this meeting that the foreign ministers of several countries, including Iran and Jordan, were present: "The time has come to end this bloody cycle of revenge." An end to hostilities in Gaza would defuse widespread tensions in the Middle East. Israel's military operation in Gaza, which has been going on for 7 months, has left a burning hell.

 

He continued: UNICEF has reported the death of 1,3900 Palestinian children in horrific and blind attacks in the Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, the restrictions created by Israel have complicated the provision of services and assistance to the needy in the Gaza Strip. Israel has recently rejected more than 40 percent of UN requests to send aid to the Gaza Strip. More than two million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are on the brink of starvation, and any military operation in Rafah will exacerbate the humanitarian disaster.

 

The Secretary General of the United Nations stated: Aid workers are being killed terribly in the Gaza Strip, and I demand an investigation into these events. Humanitarian teams alone cannot address the crisis in the Gaza Strip. A comprehensive approach to pacification must be adopted that includes the occupied West Bank.

 

Guterres noted: Last year, the highest number of attacks by settlers on Palestinians happened in the West Bank. I call on Israel to end this unprecedented level of settler violence against Palestinians. Israel and the international community must provide an environment for the establishment of a Palestinian state capable of functioning effectively.

 

The Secretary General of the United Nations emphasized that the international community must work to prevent any action that could lead the entire Middle East to the abyss and have devastating consequences for civilians.
