Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Afghanistan's Deputy Minister of Justice for International Affairs and Human Rights, Askar Jalalilan, head of the Transfer of Convicts Committee, has arrived in Kabul to discuss the situation of 1,000 Afghan prisoners in Iran.
Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate, confirmed the visit and said the Islamic Emirate would discuss with the Iranian Ministry of Justice delegation the process of transferring 1,000 Afghan prisoners.
It is worth mentioning that Mr. Jalalilan continued his consultations on the exchange of prisoners between the two countries and met with Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Mottaki. The meeting discussed the exchange of prisoners between the two countries.
He also met with Abdul Malik Hanafi, the administrative deputy of the Supreme Court, in Kabul on Thursday.
The condition of transfer is the prisoner's consent
The head of the Iranian Convict Transfer Committee stressed that the transfer of each prisoner is done with their consent, saying: If a prisoner does not consent, he will not be returned to his country and must have consent. On the other hand, these prisoners should not have private complaints or debts. Their punishment should not be execution or retribution.
"Only convicts who are sentenced to imprisonment and must serve the rest of their sentences in their respective country's prisons will be transferred according to the agreement," the Iranian deputy justice minister said.
"When these convicts are returned to their country, they can have minimal supervision of their families and property so that their families do not suffer further," Jalalian said.
Less than 10 Iranians in Afghan prisons
"According to the latest statistics, the number of Iranians imprisoned in Afghanistan is less than 10 and we are trying to transfer them to the country in a logical path and based on the agreement," the deputy minister of international affairs and human rights said about Iranian prisoners in Afghanistan.
The agreement on the transfer of prisoners was signed with Afghanistan in 2006.
Earlier, thanks to the efforts of the Islamic Emirate, a large number of compatriots imprisoned in Iranian prisons have been transferred to the country.
