The Islamic Emirate signed a $163 million contract with a Turkish company
A 163 million dollar investment contract was signed for the Yatim Taq cement project in Jawzjan province between Afghanistan's Ministry of Mines and Petroleum and Türkiye's 77 Construction Company.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Monitoring: The signing event took place in Kabul in the presence of Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
According to Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum, Mullah Hedayatullah Badri, the 30-year agreement with Turkish 77 Company encompasses exploration, extraction, production, and social services.
The cement plant is expected to produce 3,000 tons of cement daily and create around 1,200 direct jobs for locals, advancing Afghanistan’s goal of self-reliance in cement production.
Meanwhile, Turkey’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, Cengiz Unal, highlighted the importance of this project for both nations and expressed optimism that Turkish companies’ involvement would encourage further Turkish investment in Afghanistan.
This contract adds to the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to reduce cement imports, following previous agreements worth $476 million for cement projects in Jabal Saraj, Kandahar, and Herat./Bakhtar News
