Free treatment for children with cleft lip in Ghazni
Officials from the Ghazni Public Health Department say the process of treating hundreds of children with cleft lip and cleft palate whose families cannot afford to treat them has begun in the province.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Dr. Zairak Ranzormal, the head of public health in Ghazni province, said that the Ministry of Public Health has sent a specialist team of plastic surgeons to the province based on their proposal.
 
He said the team had been performing cleft palate and cleft lip operations at the Ghazni Regional Hospital for the past two days.
 
He said the cost of cleft palate and cleft lip surgeries in the private sector ranged from 8,000 to 20,000 Afghanis and these operations were now done free of charge for Ghazni residents.
