Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Monitoring: According to a statement released by the Ministry of Finance today, “In accordance with the decision of the leadership of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, the Ministry of Finance has repaid 2.7 billion Afghanis in debt owed to several foreign institutions from the previous administration.”
Additionally, the statement highlighted that approximately 910 million Afghanis were paid to the World Bank, and around 1.9 billion Afghanis were repaid to the Asian Development Bank.
Moreover, the source noted that in the current fiscal year (1403), the Ministry of Finance has allocated funds from the national budget for the repayment of debts to certain foreign institutions. These repayments will be made in line with the requests of the lending institutions and the directives of the Islamic Emirate’s leadership.
It is worth mentioning that over the past three years, the Islamic Emirate has not borrowed from any foreign country or institution. Instead, efforts have been made to repay all outstanding debts from the previous administration, according to existing contracts and leadership decisions, ensuring that Afghanistan remains free of debt to any foreign country or institution./Bakhtar News
