Western analysts have explored Moscow's options for retaliating if the West allows Ukraine to use its long-range missiles to attack Russian soil.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): According to Isna, the Western media wrote that while the tension between the West and the East over Ukraine is entering a dangerous and new phase, British Prime Minister Kerr Starmer and American President Joe Biden in Washington discussed whether to allow Kiev to use Atcoms or Storm Shadow long-range missiles against targets inside Russian territory.

In a warning to the West, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that if the West allows Ukraine to use long-range weapons, they will enter into a direct war with Russia.

He also promised a proportionate response but did not elaborate.

In June, Putin discussed the option of arming Western enemies with Russian weapons to attack Western targets abroad and deploying conventional missiles at a distance from the United States and its European allies, Reuters reported on Saturday.

Putin told reporters that Ukraine's attack on Russian territory means NATO entering the war.

Nuclear test
Ulrich Kuen, a weapons expert at the Institute for Peace and Security Policy Research in Hamburg, said that he does not rule out Putin's choice to send some kind of nuclear message; For example, testing a nuclear weapon to scare the West.

He added that Russia has not conducted any nuclear weapons tests since 1990, and a nuclear explosion could represent "the beginning of a very dangerous era."

The analyst continued: "The nuclear test will be new. I don't deny it. "This test will be in line with Russia breaking a number of international security agreements it has signed over the past few years."

Gerhard Mangut, a security expert at the University of Innsbruck in Austria, also said he thinks it is possible that Putin's response includes sending some nuclear signals.

He continued: "The Russians can conduct a nuclear test. They make all the necessary preparations. "They can test a tactical nuclear weapon anywhere in eastern Russia to show that whenever they talk about a nuclear test, they actually do it."

In the meantime, Russia's ambassador to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, said in the Security Council meeting that if NATO allows Ukraine to use long-range weapons against Russia, this military alliance will be the direct side of the conflict.

The Russian diplomat added: "You should not forget this and think about its consequences."

Reuters wrote that Russia, the world's largest nuclear power, is in the process of reviewing the terms of its nuclear doctrine, in which it will use nuclear weapons.

Storm Shadow Missile

Answer to England
"Sergei Markov", a former adviser to the Kremlin, said in Telegram: "In the case of England, if London allows Kiev to fire Storm Shadow missiles at Russia, Moscow will probably announce that London will move from a combined proxy war with Russia to "The armed attack is gone."

Markov predicted that it is possible that Russia will close the British embassy in Moscow and its own embassy in London, shoot down British drones and fighters close to Russia, for example over the Black Sea, or towards F-16 fighters that carry Storm Shadow missiles and in the bases of this country in Poland and Romania, shoot missiles.

"Dmitry Peskov," Kremlin spokesman, said at a press conference on Friday that Putin's message was completely clear and unambiguous.

Markov, a former Kremlin adviser, also said: "Russia has decided to violate the frog in boiling water strategy, which refers to the gradual increase of Western aid to Ukraine with the aim of not provoking a quick and immediate reaction from Russia."

He continued: "The step that the West is now planning is a small step, but it crosses a red line that we will actually have to respond to. "We will consider you to be at war with us."

In the meantime, "Sergei Minorov", the leader of the pro-Kremlin political party, also said in a press conference: "The moment of truth has come for the West, that it wants to have a full-scale war with Russia."

Intensification of attacks on Ukraine
Koen, an arms expert at the German Institute, further claimed that if Russia does not resort to nuclear threats or attacks on British assets, a more likely response would be to increase attacks on civilian infrastructure in Ukraine.

Magnot also predicted that if the West gives Ukraine the green light to use long-range weapons against Russia, Kiev will tolerate a Russian military response.

He also said that he does not expect a Russian military attack against NATO territory.

Another option for Russia, Cohen claimed, is to intensify "hybrid" actions such as sabotaging Europe or interfering in the US presidential election.

Magnot also said: "The danger for the West is that it does not know where Putin's red lines really are. Allowing the use of Western long-range weapons against Russian targets by Ukraine with the help of Western military advisers as well as satellite images from Western countries is something that conflicts with Russia's sensitive interests. "I think those who say nothing will happen, let's do it, are wrong."
