Afghan voice Agency (AVA)-Monitoring: According to a press release from DAB, a total of 1,07 billion Afghanis in various denominations (2, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, and 1000 Afghanis) were gathered from the northern and northeastern regions. These banknotes were meticulously counted and subsequently incinerated in the presence of an appointed committee.
Mullah Mohammad Akhund, the Second Deputy Governor of Da Afghanistan Bank, highlighted during the incineration event that the bank adheres to a defined process for collecting and withdrawing worn-out banknotes from circulation. He emphasized the importance of proper handling and preservation of the national currency to prevent premature wear and tear.
A notable aspect of this process is the involvement of representatives from the Ministries of Justice and Finance, relevant agencies, and various departments of DAB, who oversee the counting and incineration of the worn-out banknotes, ensuring transparency and accuracy in the procedure.
