The Security Council approved a resolution on how the international community interacts with Afghanistan
The United Nations Security Council approved a resolution with 13 votes in favor and two abstentions from the representatives of Russia and China, regarding the way the international community interacts with Afghanistan.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The draft of this resolution was proposed by Japan and the United Arab Emirates.

The representative of Japan said in this meeting that the members of the Security Council have been coordinated regarding Afghanistan this year and he hopes that they will remain coordinated in the coming year as well.

In this resolution, the member states of the United Nations and other "stakeholders" are asked to consider the recommendations of the "Afghanistan Independent Assessment" to increase international participation in a more coherent, coordinated and structured manner.

In its resolution, the United Nations Security Council has also asked the Secretary General of the United Nations to consult with the members of this council, actors and stakeholders related to Afghanistan; Among the officials of the Islamic Emirate, women, civil society and regional countries, appoint a special representative for Afghanistan with strong expertise on human rights and gender.

The United Nations Security Council has said that this special representative should implement the recommendations of the independent assessment of Afghanistan without prejudice to the mission of UNAMA and the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for Afghanistan.

This Council also welcomed the decision of the Secretary General of the United Nations to hold the next meeting of the representatives and special envoys of the countries in the affairs of Afghanistan and asked the participants of this meeting to discuss the recommendations of the independent evaluation of Afghanistan.

The United Nations Security Council has asked the Secretary General of this organization to report the results of the discussions on this matter to the Council in the next 60 days.

The "Afghanistan independent assessment" was conducted by Fereydun Sinirlioglu, the UN special coordinator for Afghanistan affairs.

Mr. Sinirlioglu made this assessment based on the provisions of UN Security Council Resolution 2679, which was approved in March of this year.

Antonio Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations, submitted this assessment to the Security Council of this organization on November 8.

A version of this assessment was published in early November of this year, in which "national dialogue" is emphasized to create inclusive governance, sustainable peace and social development in Afghanistan.
