Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Tedros Adhanom wrote in X that 13 million people in Afghanistan, equal to 30% of the country's total population, are facing acute food insecurity.
According to him, nearly one million children are severely malnourished and 2.3 million children suffer from moderate malnutrition.
The Secretary General of the World Health Organization has said that with a weak immune system and in the face of harsh winter, the risk of death from infectious diseases is higher.
Also, according to him, with the limited sending of humanitarian aid, the number of malnourished people will probably increase in the coming weeks and months.
Kyprisos wrote: "The World Health Organization needs 185 million dollars to continue providing medicine and support to hospitals to prevent the death of more Afghan children and women due to malnutrition and the consequences of food insecurity."
It should be noted that the United Nations has requested three billion dollars for aid in 2024.
