Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The Press Office of the President of Tajikistan announced that Imam Ali Rahman, the President of Tajikistan, and Shamshad Mirza, the Chairman of the Joint Committee of the Pakistan Army Headquarters, met to discuss multilateral cooperation between the two countries, including in the field of security and defense.
Based on this report, Tajikistan and Pakistan have established basic cooperation in the political and commercial-economic fields, including in the energy, transportation and communication sectors, as well as in the cultural, human and security fields.
Rahman welcomed the current and constructive process of political interaction and praised the mutual trust felt at the highest level between the two countries.
The President of Tajikistan emphasized the security and defense partnership of the two countries and considered the continuous contacts between the specialized institutions to be beneficial for both sides and provide the interests of the two countries.
In a statement published in this regard, it is stated: The parties pointed to contemporary worrying trends and emphasized the need to continue strengthening cooperation in the fight against terrorism, illegal drug production and trafficking, transnational crimes and other areas of interest.
It is stated in this statement that the parties also exchanged views on relevant global and regional problems, including the situation in Afghanistan.
