Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Dr. Qalandar Ebad, Acting Minister of Public Health, said on Monday, June 5, which the Islamic Emirate is ready to cooperate with the world in protecting the environment.
Mr. Ebad also added that there is no capacity for cancer treatment in Afghanistan, but the ministry is trying to create a national program for cancer treatment in the country that is compatible with international standards.
Ebad stated: "We are including ourselves with one voice in the fight against it with the international community, and we unite our voice with them. Any laws that the international community has established to protect the environment and want to create clean air, we are ready to cooperate with them"
Coinciding with World Environment Day, the United Nations Environment Program has written in a report that more than 430 million tons of plastic are produced worldwide every year, half of which is designed for single use only.
On the other hand, Antonio Guterres, the Secretary General of the United Nations, has also said in a tweet that more than twenty thousand garbage trucks full of plastic are dumped into oceans, rivers and lakes every day.
Meanwhile, in 1972, the United Nations General Assembly named the fifth of June as World Environment Day.
According to reports, greenhouse gases, mining, and deforestation are among the major air polluters.
