The Islamic Emirate is committed to complete media freedom within the framework of Islamic and national values
The officials of the Ministry of Information and Culture of the Islamic Emirate said in the celebration of the World Press Freedom Day that the Islamic Emirate is committed to the complete freedom of the press within the framework of Islamic and national values. They also added that the Ministry of Information and Culture expands the scope of media activity.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The Ministry of Information and Culture of the Islamic Emirate celebrated World Press Freedom Day yesterday (Wednesday, May 3) during a press conference at the government's information and media center.
 
In this conference together with the leadership of the Ministry of Information and Culture; Representatives from various institutions, media and journalists were also present.
 
Maulavi Atiqullah Azizi, Minister of Culture of the Ministry of Information and Culture while welcoming the participants of the meeting said: The Islamic Emirate is committed to the complete freedom of the press within the framework of Islamic and national values.
 
Mr. Azizi added that the officials of the Ministry of Information and Culture meet with the representatives of the media in order to solve the problems of the media.
 
He also noted that the Ministry of Information and Culture is trying to expand the scope of media activity and create positive interaction.
 
According to the information of the Ministry of Information and Culture, there are currently 373 media outlets active in the country, recently 20 media outlets that had previously stopped their activities have resumed their activities and 6 new media outlets have also started their work.
 
On the other hand, Hojatullah Mujadadi, the head of the Afghanistan Free Journalists Union, said in this meeting that as a result of good coordination and joint work with the Ministry of Information and Culture, many problems of the media in accessing information have been solved.
 
He also added that efforts are being made to find a solution to the economic problems of the media with the cooperation of the officials of the Ministry of Information and Culture.
 
However, Maulvi Saeed al-Din Saeed, Minister of Finance and Administration of the Ministry of Information and Culture, thanked the participants for their comments and suggestions.
 
He stated that he will examine the suggestions of media officials regarding solving the problems of the media, adding that he will fully cooperate in this field.
 
Meanwhile, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said in a message on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day that all freedoms depend on the freedom of the press, but this freedom is under attack in every corner of the world.
