Heavy taxes and the lack of a permanent exhibition are one of the challenges of the shoe industry in Balkh
The official of the Committee of Shoemakers, Shoemakers and Shoe Sellers of Balkh province said: More than 100 factories, workshops and shoe production factories are active in this province and they are facing problems such as lack of government support, excessive taxes, lack of issuance of activity permits, standard locations, permanent exhibitions for Advertising and marketing of the domestic shoe industry and the long-term electricity exchange are facing.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Mazar-e-Sharif: Gholam Sakhi Sufizada; In relation to the problems of the shoe industry in Balkh province, the head of the committee of shoemakers, shoemakers and shoe sellers in Mazar-e-Sharif told AVA reporter: Shoemaking industry in Afghanistan has a long history and he said that this industry or profession can be considered as our cultural and historical heritage and on the other hand, making shoes has been the job of divine prophets because kings and beggars need shoes.
 
He added that the shoe industry has many fans in the city of Mazar-e-Sharif, and thousands of our compatriots have been provided employment opportunities in the shoe industry.
 
Sufizada stated that more than 100 factories, workshops and shoe production factories are active in Balkh province and with problems such as lack of support from the government, excessive taxes, lack of issuance of activity licenses, standard locations, permanent exhibitions for promotion and marketing of the domestic and foreign shoe industry. They are facing power outages and we want to solve these problems.
 
He said that during this period, none of the domestic shoe industry's problems have been solved, and a large number of shoe manufacturers do not want to give interviews to the media, because after the interview, instead of solving the problem, taxes will increase.
 
Khalifa Haider, one of the shoe industry factory owners in Mazar-e-Sharif city, said: People who have factories, factories and shoe-making workshops in Balkh province always try to produce standard shoes that people like in order to earn a living for themselves. To serve the people and grow the country's economy.
 
He continued: If the import of quality raw materials at a cheap price is provided in the country, I assure that the standards of shoemakers and artisans in Afghanistan will be equal to the world, and the shoe industry in Afghanistan needs the attention and support of the government, otherwise the factories Shoes will fall in the country.
 
He stated that the shoe industry and the market of goods in general, apart from food items, do not have many customers because people are in a bad economic and livelihood situation, and the shoes produced in Balkh province are also exported to neighboring provinces.
 
Khalifa Haider added: For now, I have 18 workers in my factory, and if I get the attention and support of the government, I will provide employment capacity for 100 people in this factory.
 
Meanwhile, a number of shoe factory workers in the city of Mazar-e-Sharif, referring to the increase in the unemployment rate and the decrease in wages, said: "People's economy is not good." Therefore, the shoe market does not have the sales of the past, and the factory owners reduced the workers' wages, and we ask the government to take serious and urgent measures to provide employment in the society.
