Japan buys 500 cruise missiles from America
In order to strengthen its military power and in competition with China and North Korea, Japan plans to buy about 500 Tomahawk cruise missiles from America.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): At the same time as the military power of China and North Korea increases in the region, the Japanese media announced yesterday (Monday, February 13) that this country plans to deploy 500 cruise missiles this year in order to strengthen its defense capability.

According to the Nikkei news agency, the Japanese parliament is reviewing the budget of 1.59 billion dollars for this purchase. This amount includes maintenance costs. Japan is looking to buy the latest Tomahawk model.

These missiles will be deployed in the vessels of the Japanese Navy equipped with the Jais missile defense system, by which they can target land targets at a distance of more than 1,600 kilometers.

The Tomahawk cruise missile uses a combination of GPS and digital adaptation of the target's image for effective striking.

This purchase is part of Japan's effort to develop anti-attack capabilities or the ability to hit facilities that are considered an imminent threat to this country.

The Ministry of Defense of Japan is also looking to increase the range of its guided cruise missiles to more than 1,000 km.

Meanwhile, the recent signing of military cooperation agreements between America and Japan, and the introduction of China as the biggest strategic challenge of the two countries, was accompanied by a sharp reaction from Beijing.
"We strongly disagree with the statement of Washington and Tokyo that China is their biggest strategic challenge in the region," Wang Wenbin, the spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said in this regard.

The "Japan Times" newspaper and other Japanese media recently announced that Japan and the United States formed a joint military intelligence team to monitor China's military movements and actions.

Japan and the United States have launched a new agency to analyze information collected by their defense equipment, including U.S. drones recently deployed near the East China Sea.
