Afghan Voice Agency(AVA)_Monitoring, An oil tanker inside the Salang pass tunnel, took fire late Saturday night, says local officials of Parwan province.
The head of Maintenance of Salang pass tunnel, Hafiz Mohammad Yaqoob, said in a phone conversation to BNA that their rescue and the mobile medical teams transferred 30 injured people to the hospital.
The inside of the tunnel is full of smoke and this has caused problems in the process of evacuating the injured, but the efforts to save the injured continue, he added.
Mr. Yaqoob did not elaborate further on the possibility of increasing the number of casualties and injured of the incident.
The incident took place around 9 o’clock Saturday night, a fuel tanker of oil took fire inside the tunnel due to technical problems. In this incident, that killed 9 people and injured 30 others, said a spokesperson for Parwan province, Hekmatullah Shamim.
He mentioned saying that the security forces and health authorities were able with complete unity to curb the fire and rescue the survivors in the tunnel, adding that the Salang pass way tunnel is open to traffic now.
