Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The 21st meeting of the Economic Commission chaired by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, was held in Kabul.
At this meeting, the Kabul Municipality was instructed to submit six joint projects, which the department seeks their initial approval from the Economic Commission.
The Economic Commission also signed a memorandum of understanding with a company called DP World to modernize ports and facilitate Afghanistan's exports.
At the meeting, the Afghan Railways Authority was also allowed to bid on the Hairatan Railway Services project for a new contract.
Meanwhile, Afghan Railways officials say that the full responsibility of Hairatan Railway should be on the Afghan side and to sign contracts with other companies to provide services.
It should be noted that Afghanistan is a landlocked country and imports and exports are mainly from ports and land routes. Railways are one of the most important options for the country for the transportation of commercial goods and economic development.
