Ukraine: UNESCO is not a place for barbarians
In response to the destruction of the country's cultural heritage by Russian troops, the Ukrainian president called for Moscow to be expelled from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), saying "UNESCO is not a place for barbarians."
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called for Moscow's expulsion from UNESCO, citing the destruction of the country's cultural heritage by the Russian military.
"UNESCO is not a place for barbarians," he said in a video message on Saturday, June 4th.

According to Zelinsky, Russian forces have destroyed cultural monuments, churches and other religious centers, and this is reason enough for Russia to be expelled from the UN institution on culture and education.

In another video message, Zelensky accused Russia of targeting the Sivatogorsk Grand Church, which was set on fire by Russia. In the published photos, it can be seen that this mansion is burning with two bell towers.

Russia has denied the allegations, saying in a statement that Ukrainian forces had attacked the church.

So far, 113 churches in Ukraine have been destroyed or damaged. The President of Ukraine called Russia a "state of terror" that destroys its historical heritage with its artillery. At the end of May, he also asked UNESCO to cancel Russia's membership in the organization.

According to Zelensky, more than 2,500 missiles have been fired at Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24.

"The day will come when Russia will leave the region alone, and this" depends on the decision of one person, "he said, referring to the main focus of the war, which is now the Donbas region in eastern Ukraine, and without naming Putin.

Zelensky also announced the continuation of heavy fighting in the Luhansk region and its main epicenter, which is the city of Sivirdontsk, and said that the bloody street battle continues in this city.

Ukrainian forces are trying at all costs to prevent the Russian army from taking full control of the city, otherwise Russia will achieve one of its most important military goals; Full control of Luhansk.

Russian forces have also launched airstrikes in the area. Ukraine has for the first time reported the death of a German volunteer fighter in the region.

Three other volunteers from France, the Netherlands and Australia were among those killed. The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) did not name the men, but did not say when they were killed.

Zelensky had previously called on all volunteers around the world to join the fight against the Russian army. Following this call, the International Regiment for the Defense of Ukraine was established.
