"Unfortunately, their release has been delayed under one pretext or another till now. Therefore, our technical team will not participate in fruitless meetings with relevant sides starting from tomorrow," Suhail Shaheen, a spokesman for Taliban's political office in Qatar, said on Twitter.
Under US-Taliban deal, up to 5,000 militants should have been freed by March 10 when intra-Afghan peace negotiations were scheduled to begin.
However, the process has been delayed with the Afghan government saying it would be conditional and gradual.
On Monday, an Afghan official said that the Taliban team demanded the release of 15 militants behind major attacks, which was rejected.
