Ghani Stresses Unity As He Inaugurates Kakar Foundation

AVA- The academic research center is named after Mohammad Hassan Kakar, an Afghan modern historian who passed away in the United States in 2016. 
President Ghani said people should have more empathy with each other, because they share each other’s pains. 
“In my view, all the residents of the country have shared pain and only the way they express that pain is different. Every one of us shout that my village has been burnt, and I cannot forget that pain. But my word is that the village of all of us has been burnt,” Ghani said as he explained the importance of unity among Afghans. 
Ghani said Kakar was a professional and prominent Afghan historian and writer. 
“This point should be stressed that (Mohammad Hassan) Kakar had a special talent in translation and simplifying of complex English text into Pashto,” Ghani added. 
“He (Mohammad Hassan Kakar) was insisting on this that every human being should have the right to learn his own mother tongue,” said Kawon Kakar, son of Mohammad Hassan Kakar. 
Kakar was born in 1928 in Laghman province. 
He held a bachelor degree from Kabul University and a master of philosophy and a PhD in history from the University of London.
