AVA- The Khaf-Herat railway line will be inaugurated by March, Kheirollah Khademi, deputy minister of roads and urban development told reporters, IRNA reported.
He further said that the country's railway network will also have an additional 391 kilometers of railway tracks in operation by mid-March.
Iranian officials, including President Hassan Rouhani, have underlined the importance of the project in boosting trade ties with neighboring countries, including Afghanistan.
Uzbekistan's First Deputy Prime Minister Achilbay Ramatov said in April that expediting the construction of Khaf-Herat railway will make Chabahar Port in southeastern Iran and Bandar Abbas, south Iran, more accessible thus enabling the shipping of millions of tons of goods.
