AVA-No further details have been given regarding the airstrikes which were apparently carried out in support of the Afghan forces who were battling hundreds of the Taliban insurgents in Farah city.
The Ministry of Defense of Afghanistan (MoD) earlier said that the Taliban insurgents launched a coordinated attack at 2:00 am on Tuesday, initially launching their attack from Shebkoh district and managed to seize some parts of Farah city after intruding into the city from its northern parts.
According to a statement by MoD, the Afghan national defense and security forces responded to the attack with the ground and air offensive, leaving at least 198 militants dead.
The ministry of defense also claims that scores of Taliban militants have also sustained injuries during the clashes with the security forces.
MoD also added that the Afghan forces successfully repulsed the Taliban attack and inflicted casualties on them despite they attempted to use the civilian homes as shelter against the security forces.
In the meantime, MoD says the city has been fully cleared of the Taliban militants but clearance operations are still being conducted in the outskirts of the city.
