51 people died in the forest fires in Chile
International media have reported that the death toll from the recent fires in some forest areas of Chile has reached 51, and officials have warned that the number of victims is expected to increase with the unusual rise in temperature and drought across South America.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Following the spread of forest fires in Chile, the president of this country has declared a state of emergency.

Chile's president has called for more military personnel to be immediately deployed to the affected areas, home to more than a million people.

Meanwhile, the Interior Minister of Chile said in a press conference late yesterday (Saturday) that the country is facing its deadliest disaster since the 2010 earthquake that left more than 500 dead.

Across Chile, some 92 fires were burning yesterday, with rescuers able to control 40 of them. The fire has so far covered 43 thousand hectares of land.

Chilean officials also stressed that the biggest concern is that many of the fires are very close to urban areas.

According to ISNA and according to the report of "Washington Post", forest fires in Chile are relatively common during the summer months (currently the inhabitants of the southern hemisphere are spending the summer season) and the peak fire season usually starts in early December.
