The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs said in the coordination meeting at the leadership level between the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and the United Nations offices that it is time for all efforts to be focused on the reconstruction and development of the country.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote in a newsletter that a coordination meeting was held at the leadership level between the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and the United Nations offices.
 
The news release states that in this meeting, on behalf of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, along with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, high-ranking officials and representatives of the Ministries of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, Economy, Finance, Interior Affairs, Public Health, Migrants and Returnees, Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, Water and electricity, industry and trade, information and culture, the government ministry for dealing with natural disasters, martyrs and the disabled, the coordination department of municipal affairs, Kabul municipality and environmental protection.
 
On the other hand, along with the officials of the United Nations humanitarian and development aid, the officials of various United Nations offices in Afghanistan, including the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the World Food Program (WFP), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Fund United Nations Children's Support (UNICEF), United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN Habitat), United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), International Labor Organization (ILO), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and high-level representatives of international organizations of the Rescue Committee International (IRC, Intersus, Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), Akbar, Dakar and ACF) and the private sector participated.
 
According to the newsletter; In this meeting, the needs of the Afghan people in different sectors and the priorities of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, the assistance provided by the United Nations in the past year and the future plans of this organization and the further expansion of understanding and coordination between the two sides have been discussed.
 
Maulavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, said in the aforementioned meeting that after the end of the war in the country, it is time to focus all efforts on the reconstruction and development of the country.
 
Maulavi Muttaqi added that although the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is trying with all its might to get the country back on its feet and reach self-sufficiency in the human and developmental sectors, the government's facilities to deal with the ruined economy as a result of the 40-year war; Hundreds of thousands of widows, orphans, and disabled people, millions of immigrants to neighboring countries, a health system that relies on foreign aid, millions of drug addicts, a large part of the country is filled with landmines and unexploded ordnance, and other forms of damage compensation, successive droughts, earthquakes, floods, climate change, and others. Natural disasters are not enough and the need for international aid in the short term remains.
 
Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs also stated that in order to make maximum use of international aid, the nature and form of its distribution should be adjusted according to the needs and priorities of the Afghan people.
 
In addition to an overview of UN activities, Andrika Ratavati, head of the United Nations Humanitarian and Development Department and UNAMA Deputy Director, said that the United Nations is working to change the nature of aid from humanitarian to development and to identify the areas on which the United Nations aid will focus. 
 
During the meeting, representatives of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and United Nations offices talked about sharing priorities and strengthening coordination.
 
According to the newsletter; In the coordination meeting at the leadership level between the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and the United Nations offices on the urgent handling of natural disasters, especially the victims of recent floods in the country, maintaining and increasing the existing spirit of cooperation and coordination, moving from humanitarian aid to development aid and creating technical mechanisms for discussion A detailed agreement has been made on the issues.
