The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) said on World Food Day that one-third of Afghanistan's population faces food insecurity due to climate shocks and economic instability.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVNA) - Kabul: Today (Wednesday, October 16) coincides with World Food Day.
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations stressed on this day that the right to access to food is a fundamental human right.
The organization added that one in three people in Afghanistan faces food insecurity due to climate shocks and economic instability.
"Together we can empower Afghan farmers to sustain their livelihoods and feed their families," FAO wrote on X.
The climate crisis has led to widespread poverty and hunger.
According to the United Nations, more than 23 million people in Afghanistan are in need of humanitarian assistance.
UN aid agencies in Afghanistan are facing a shortage of funds.
