Afghan Foreign Minister Meets with Turkmen Foreign Minister / Implementation of Several Economic Projects to Begin in Herat Soon
Afghan and Turkmen foreign ministers met in Herat's Turghandi port to discuss how to launch several major economic projects between the two countries.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Herat: In this meeting, Afghan Foreign Minister Maulvi Amir Khan Mottaki arrived in Herat province on Wednesday morning at the head of a high-level government delegation and met with his Turkmen counterpart in Turghandi port of the province. 
 
The two sides discussed the start of several major economic projects, including the TAPI project, the Turghandi railway, optical fiber and the strengthening of electricity imported from Turkmenistan to the Noor-ul-Jihad substation.
 
Foreign Minister Maulvi Amir Khan Mottaki says the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is fully prepared to start work on major economic projects such as TAPI, Turghandi railway and strengthening of Noor-ul-Jihad power substation as soon as possible.
 
According to Maulvi Mottaki, the implementation of these projects will have a direct impact on economic growth and strengthen political relations between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan.
 
The Foreign Minister expressed hope that the TAPI project would begin in Afghanistan and assured the government of its efforts in this regard.
 
Meanwhile, Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Muradov said he was ready to implement major projects in Afghanistan, saying TAPI, power substations and railway projects would begin soon.
 
The Turkmen Foreign Minister also called the start and implementation of economic projects between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan important and vital and stressed that the country is trying to expand trade, political and cultural relations with the Islamic Emirate.
 
Meanwhile, TAPI project officials, while providing information on the progress of the project, assured the foreign ministers of the two countries of preparations for the start of the project inside Afghanistan.
 
However, the citizens of Herat welcomed the early start of these projects, saying the start of this project is a major economic transformation in the country that will provide jobs for many.
 
TAPI is one of the largest joint projects that will transport Turkmen gas from Afghanistan to Pakistan and India. The project is more than 1,800 kilometers long, more than 800 kilometers of which are in Afghanistan.
