Biden: I was completely against the occupation of Afghanistan and trying to unify this country
US President Joe Biden has announced that he was completely against the "occupation" of Afghanistan and the effort to unify this country.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): In a press conference at the NATO annual meeting, Biden said that when Osama bin Laden was killed, American forces should have withdrawn from Afghanistan.

Referring to the war between Hamas and Israel in Gaza, he said that he advised the Prime Minister of Israel not to make the same mistake as America by occupying Gaza.

He said: "When I went to Israel immediately after the killings of Hamas, I told the war cabinet and the Prime Minister of Israel not to make the mistake that America made after bin Laden."

Biden also stated that he was against efforts to unify Afghanistan because it was impossible.

He said: "I was completely against the occupation and trying to unify Afghanistan." "Once we killed bin Laden, we had to go back, because no one can ever unite that country."

The presence of American forces in Afghanistan ended after 20 years in August 2021.

Biden has repeatedly defended his decision to withdraw American troops from Afghanistan.

Last month, in a press conference with the president of Kenya, he said that it was highly unlikely that anyone would unite Afghanistan.

He added that there are other ways to control ISIS other than the "occupation" of Afghanistan.
