The government delegation of Uzbekistan is traveling to Afghanistan to discuss the Qosh Teppa Water Canal
Uzbek media have reported that an Uzbek government delegation will travel to Afghanistan in the coming months to discuss the Qosh Teppa water canal.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): "Gazita" news website reported that Alugh Bey Qasimov, the governor of Surkhandarya province, which borders Afghanistan, said that a government delegation from Uzbekistan will visit Afghanistan in the coming months to discuss the Qosh Teppa water channel.

He said that although the Qosh Teppa canal will be built from the border with Tajikistan, it will affect all the countries in this area and the volume of water will decrease, therefore it is expected that the negotiations will be held until the end of this year.

This Uzbek official added that letters have been sent to Afghanistan regarding the visit of the Uzbek delegation.

The construction of Qosh Teppa canal in northern Afghanistan, one of the largest water canals, started in the month of Hamel last year.

This canal with a length of 285 km starts from the Amu Sea and passes through the plains of Hairatan and Daulatabad districts of Balkh, Agcheh Jozjan and ends in Andkhoi Faryab district.

Last month, the President of Uzbekistan, Shaukat Mirziyoyev, expressed concern about the construction of the Qosh Teppa canal in Afghanistan at the meeting of the heads of the International Fund to Save the Aral Sea.
