Netherlands Assures Support to ANDSF, Women’s Empowerment
Second Vice President Mohammad Sarwar Danesh met Netherlands ambassador to Kabul, Ernst Noorman, here in his office yesterday, a statement said. Both sides discussed peace process and upcoming presidential elections.
AVA- Appreciating Netherlands support of Afghanistan, VP Danesh called the country as one of closest partner of Afghanistan and emphasized on enhancing bilateral relation with the country, the statement from VP press office added. According to VP Danesh a bold step has been taken towards peace, adding Afghan government was supporting the move. Calling direct talks between government and Taliban as the only way to end the ongoing war, VP Danesh said Afghans willing peace but would never undermine the last 18 years achievements, the statement said.
Hinting to holding of the presidential elections and appointing of the electoral commissions’ commissioners, the second vice president said the members would be soon appointed based on the amendment made in the electoral law. “Announcing the final results of parliamentary elections and preparation for the upcoming presidential elections would the key priorities for the new commissioners.”
Supporting the Afghan government’s stance in peace process, the Netherlands ambassador said his country was committed to boost the capacity of the Afghan security forces, in particular the police forces. Hinting to Netherlands continued cooperation towards development of Afghanistan, the ambassador assured of his country’s continued support for women’s empowerment in political and economic spheres, the statement concluded as saying.
