Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday (January 8) that the country's air forces shot down five Ukrainian fighters in one day.
Downed Ukrainian fighters include Sukhoi 24, Sukhoi 27, MiG 29 and two Sukhoi 25s.
Igor Konashenkov, the spokesman of the Russian Ministry of Defense, announced that the Sukhoi-27 fighter was shot down over Lozovo in the Kharkiv region. Four more fighters were targeted over Izium, Kharkiv Province, Mykolapoliye, Novy Donbas and Vezli villages in Donetsk region.
According to this ministry, since the beginning of the war in February of last year, the army of this country has a total of 365 fighters, 199 helicopters, 2,848 drones, 400 rockets, 7,449 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 972 missile launchers. Multiple, 3,787 cannons and special mortars, 97 special rockets and mortars of the Ukrainian army have been destroyed.
According to Ukrainian reports, Russian President Vladimir Putin rejected the proposal of Russian President Vladimir Putin for a 36-hour truce on the occasion of Christmas for the followers of the Orthodox religion and said that the truce will not be established until Russia withdraws its forces from the occupied territories.
Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy of the Russian National Security Council, said that "Ukraine's rejection of the ceasefire made the work of our military easier," saying that "ungrateful people only understand the language of force."
