Developing trade between Iran and Afghanistan and mutual needs
On the other hand, economic experts consider the increase in trade between Afghanistan and Iran a positive step in the country’s economic growth and say that expanding trade and economic interactions between the two countries is important and vital in various aspects.
Mohammad Nabi Afghan, an economic affairs expert, stated in an interview with Ava that the news of the increase in trade exchanges between Afghanistan and Iran to more than 3 billion dollars is promising, adding: "The increase in these exchanges has various aspects. First, Iran and Afghanistan are under pressure from Western sanctions and have a similar situation. Therefore, increasing trade interactions can reduce the pressures to some extent." On the other hand, according to Afghan, "Iran always tries to have a good market for its commercial goods, and in these difficult and difficult circumstances, Afghanistan is a good economic platform for Iran and vice versa, because both countries are under sanctions and Afghanistan has a good market for the commercial goods of its neighbors." This economic affairs expert also stated that "on the other hand, Iran and other neighboring countries need dollars, and dollars are mainly transferred to these countries through Afghanistan, so they need to interact with Afghanistan." Afghan also emphasized that “Afghanistan and Iran should make good use of these opportunities for mutual benefit and benefit both countries in the field of trade, because trade is one of the effective ways to strengthen economic arteries, especially in conditions of sanctions.”
He called on the Islamic Emirate, especially the country’s economic and commercial sectors, “not to be only importers, but to export more commercial goods to countries in the region and the world, including Iran.”
In his opinion, Afghanistan’s commercial sectors should look for ways to increase exports and conduct trade in a balanced and bilateral manner. According to him, while currently our trade with Iran and many neighboring countries is almost one-sided and we have more imports than exports.”
He emphasized that “economic policy requires that Afghanistan must have an alternative to every Iranian commodity, and if the Iranian side does not trade with us bilaterally, we must start our trade with another country. With these methods, we can increase our exports.”
