Chinese ambassador to Afghanistan has called on countries in the region to cooperate more in the fight against terrorism.
AVA- Yao Jing raised the issue while visiting Afghanistan’s northeast Badakhshan province, which is near the border with China, on Wednesday.
He said that the presence of Uighurs along with other terror groups in Badakhshan and growing insecurity is of concern to his country.
“Countering terrorism required regional efforts and China will its utmost to ensure peace and stability in Afghanistan,” he said at a press conference after meeting with local officials.
During his visit, the envoy pledged also small projects in the areas of healthcare, education and agriculture in the remote province.
He said that Beijing was seeking to connect fiber optic to Badakhshan from China’s Kashghar city in Xinjiang.
The envoy noted that reconciliation is the only way to resolve the Afghan crisis.
He said that China would help Afghanistan in peace process through diplomatic means and convince countries involved in Afghan instability.
China reiterates concern about insecurity in Afghanistan as BRICS nations, which includes also China, named Pakistan-based militant groups in an unprecedented move.
