The ministery of public health implement:

4 year pregnancy health project

Kabul, (AVA)- To fight against mother dying in child birth, infant death and disability, the ministry of public health from 2012 to 2016 will be implementing the healthy and protection during pregnancy project.

The chief of health of pregnancy department of public health ministry, Dr Sedieh Fayegh Ayyobi told Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) implementing the pregnancy health project is to improve the pregnancy health in Afghan families by presenting health services to the Afghan nation.

The project includes family planning and childbirth distance, mother and infant health, treating the sexual transmitted diseases and uterine cancer etc.

According the survey of AMS, one woman out of 50 was died during childbirth in 2010 in Afghanistan.

The survey added 34% pregnant women went to midwives, 60% of women where under pregnancy protection and 20% used medicine to regulate birth distance.

Dr Sedieh said since the mother is hospitalized by unqualified doctors, Afghanistan has the highest rate of mother and child death in the region.

She added 350,000 women die during childbirth in world whose share of underdeveloped countries is 99%.

Shinki Hotek, the pregnancy health in charge, in Zaboul said most of the women in remote areas face with health problems so implementing this project is a huge step toward improving the mother and child health.

Hotek added preventing the mother from going to health clinics by their families, lack of clinic are the causes of the mother and child death.

2 doctors and 30 midwives are working in Zaboul which is not enough.
