According to a statement released by International Security Assistance Force, Afghan and coalition forces killed 17 insurgents, detained one suspect and discovered a weapons cache during operations in eastern Afghanistan throughout the past 24 hours.
The operations carried out following the strategic pacts signed between Afghanistan and some western countries led the Afghanistan security to have been handed over to Afghan forces.
The source further added, Afghan National Army soldiers and coalition forces killed one insurgent during a small arms engagement in Tagab district of eastern Kapisa province.
In a separate operation Afghan Uniform Police and coalition forces discovered a weapon cache in the area of Ab Band district at eastern Ghazni province. The cache contained material used to make improvised explosive devises.
ISAF following the statement also added, Afghan Uniform Police and coalition forces killed 16 insurgents and detained one during an engagement in Musa Khel district at easern Khost province. The detained suspect was found with military equipment in the vicinity of the engagement and was transferred to a base for questioning.
Anti-government armed militant groups yet to comment regarding the operations.(Khaama)
