Afghan president Hamid Karzai also met with the president of Italy Giorgio Napolitano and discussed the current situation of Afghanistan, officials said.
Afghanistan and Italy on Wednesday signed long term strategic cooperation agreement.
According to a press release issued by the Afghan Presidential Palace, the strategic pact was signed by Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Prime Minister of Italy Mario Monti on Wednesday evening.
The source further added, Italy will continue to its political, security, economical, counter-narcotics, law enforcement, cultural and media and skill building cooperation with Afghanistan beyond 2014, based on the agreement signed between the two nations.

During his meeting with the president of Italy president Hamid Karzai said, Afghanistan is a strong country with an appropriate political system, and I am confident that Afghanistan will not face the previous tragedies once again.
Afghan Presidential officials said, the president of Italy Giorgio Napolitano vowed to continue its cooperation with Afghanistan as it was committed in the past.
Mr. Napolitano further added, Italy will remain committed to its cooperation and sacrifice to prevent Afghanistan from facing internal crisis.
