Finance Minister meets with country
The Finance Minister, in a meeting with officials of the Chamber of Commerce and Investment and a number of traders importing medicines, discussed alternative trade routes instead of Pakistan route, customs facilities for imported medicines, alternative routes and possible problems facing traders.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The press office of the Ministry of Finance today (Sunday, November 16) issued a press release saying that Mullah Mohammad Nasir Akhund, Minister of Finance, met with Khan Jan Alokozai, member of the Board of Directors of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment, and a number of traders importing medicines.

The Finance Minister assured officials of the Chambers of Commerce and Investment and importers of medicines that he will support them as in the past, provide the necessary facilities in the relevant sectors and resolve possible challenges at the appropriate time.

Officials from the country's chambers of commerce and investment and traders importing medicines appreciated the facilities created at customs and called for greater convenience and cooperation in the process of transferring commercial goods through alternative routes.

The meeting discussed alternative trade routes instead of the Pakistani route, customs facilities for medicines imported through alternative routes, and possible problems facing traders.

It is worth noting that the Islamic Emirate, in response to the continuous closure of trade routes by Pakistan, banned the import of medicines produced in Pakistan into the country, and considered this measure to be in line with protecting Afghanistan's economic interests.

According to the government's new decision, no trader is allowed to import medicines from Pakistan, and a three-month deadline has been set for settling accounts with Pakistani companies and contractors.

The Islamic Emirate has asked Afghan traders to reduce the level of trade with Pakistan and use alternative routes to transit their goods.

Officials have stated that the purpose of this decision is to "preserve the country's reputation, economic and industrial interests, and protect the legitimate rights of Afghan businessmen."
