Eslami: Attack on Iran Destroyed the Credibility of the Atomic Energy Agency
The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran said today (Sunday) that Israel and the United States destroyed the credibility of the agency by attacking Iran's peaceful nuclear facilities.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Mohammad Eslami, Vice President and Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, attended the International Conference on International Law under Aggression, Aggression and Defense at the Center for Political and International Studies of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs today (Sunday, November 16). He answered questions raised in a meeting attended by Saeed Khatibzadeh, Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran and Head of the Center for Political and International Studies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of this country.

He referred to the negotiations that led to the JCPOA and said: A serious accusation was raised about Iran's nuclear program and its result was more than 20 years of negotiations and various governments conducted these negotiations, and the result of the negotiations was the JCPOA document. In this JCPOA agreement, the allegations raised in the PMD were closed and the Agency also reported.

Eslami stated: Iran fulfilled all its commitments in the JCPOA.

He said: The Agency reported to the Board of Governors every three months and to the Security Council every six months, showing that Iran was adhering to its commitments.

Referring to the attack on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities by the Zionist regime and the United States, which were under the supervision of the Agency, Eslami stated: Even the Agency refused to condemn this aggression, and even the Security Council did not condemn it.

The head of the Atomic Energy Organization stated: Agency inspectors were supposed to visit Iran’s nuclear facilities at eight in the morning on the day the attack took place.

Eslami also said: It is clear that their goal is not military facilities and atomic bombs, but rather the destruction of capacities that are effective for the progress of our country. The first places that Israel attacked were a factory that produces plate fuel for the Tehran reactor, which produces radiopharmaceuticals.

He added: They destroyed the credibility of an international organization (the Agency) and did not just destroy our nuclear facilities.

In response to a question, he said: We face the threat of an attack on Iran every day.

Stating that this was the first time that nuclear facilities were attacked, Eslami said: The Agency must define itself for these conditions.

The Iranian Vice President also said in response to a question: Our relationship with the Agency has had two parts: one is safeguards and the NPT, and the other is the JCPOA agreement.

In response to a question about the draft resolution against Iran at this week's meeting of the Agency's Board of Governors and the abuse of the Board of Governors by some European countries, he said: Let's not allow the Agency's capacity to be abused.

Regarding the need of Iranian patients for the Atomic Energy Organization's products and radiopharmaceuticals, Eslami noted: About two million people in the country use these products.
