Baghdad Friday Prayer Imam: Iraqi Nation’s Awareness Becomes Barrier to “New Middle East” Plan

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Ayatollah Sayyed Yassin Mousavi, the Friday prayer leader of Baghdad and a prominent professor at the Najaf Ashraf Seminary, analyzed the recent political developments in the region and Iraq in his Friday prayer sermons this week. Referring to foreign interference in the Iraqi elections and efforts to form the parliament desired by the United States and Israel, he emphasized the awareness and resistance of the Iraqi people.

 

The Friday prayer leader of Baghdad, referring to the colonial and capitulating project designed based on Trump’s plan, stated: “The main goal of this project was to weaken governments, collapse regional structures, and strengthen Israel through violence and terrorism.” He added that the failed project, which aimed to reduce participation in the central and southern provinces of Iraq, was thwarted by the aware Iraqi people.

 

Referring to the historic participation of the people in the parliamentary elections, Mousavi said that the participation rate reached 56.11 percent, the highest in the last 15 years. He considered this success a victory for the Iraqi people and emphasized that the Iraqi people, with their widespread presence, thwarted foreign conspiracies.

 

Ayatollah Mousavi also referred to the warnings of Iraqi tribal sheikhs and said that if the American project were successful, the future of Iraqi Shiites would face a serious threat. He called on the elected representatives of the Iraqi parliament to prioritize safeguarding national sovereignty and avoid any project that aims to weaken Iraq and divide the region.

 

In the end, he spoke about the disclosure of the “New Middle East” plan and Israel’s role in it, adding that the main goal of this plan was to turn Israel into the central power of the region and reduce the sovereignty of the countries in the region. The Friday prayer leader of Baghdad also warned that the attempt to transfer the model of the Syrian crisis to Iraq, including cutting ties with Iran and dissolving the Popular Mobilization Forces, could lead Iraq to a dangerous scenario.

 

Ayatollah Mousavi emphasized that the heavy responsibility of the new Iraqi representatives lies in safeguarding national sovereignty and preserving the future of the Shiites. He said: “The aware Iraqi nation can thwart any attempt to return the country to the orbit of foreign domination.”
