Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): According to Anadolu Agency, after a meeting of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Vladimir Zelensky claimed that Russia is trying to take control of the key city of Pokrovsk in eastern Ukraine as soon as possible to promote its narrative about its ability to control the entire Donbas region.
The Ukrainian president also claimed that "the number one goal of the Russians is to occupy Pokrovsk in the shortest possible time."
Stating that there are currently 314 Russian soldiers in the city and a large group is operating on its outskirts, he added that Ukrainian forces have recorded 220 attacks on Pokrovsk in three days.
Pokrovsk, located in the Donetsk region, has become a key flashpoint amid Russia’s escalating offensive. Its fall would allow Moscow to take full control of the Donbass, a goal it has sought since the start of the war in Ukraine.
Zelensky also claimed that Russian forces suffered their highest monthly casualties in October since the start of the war in Ukraine, estimating the number of casualties at between 27,000 and 28,000 soldiers, a figure the Ukrainian president attributed to the increased use of drones.
He also announced the start of mass production of domestic Mavic-style drones in the near future, adding that “financing contracts are being prepared.”
Referring to a meeting between Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and US President Donald Trump, the Ukrainian president said: “Everyone understands the consequences of the EU and Trump sanctions on energy companies.”
He added that Ukraine is trying to remove Russian oil from European markets and prevent Moscow from earning revenue from energy exports.
