Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola will join the 39 managers in football history who have played 1,000 official games in the league when he leads his team against Liverpool on Sunday, joining the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Manchester City's Spanish manager Pep Guardiola is set to record his 1,000th coaching experience in the league. According to Tasnim news agency and Spanish publication Marca, Guardiola will join the 1,000-game Hall of Fame of the Premier League's 1,000-game Club by leading Manchester City against Liverpool on Sunday, becoming the 39th manager in football history to reach four figures in the league.

Guardiola, who began his coaching career with Barcelona and then managed Bayern Munich, said of the achievement: "Being a member of the League Coaches Association is very important to me and it is a great honour to join the Hall of Fame of the Club of the Thousand. It is a source of pride for me to stand alongside great coaches like Sir Alex Ferguson and I would like to thank my family, friends and players who have supported me along the way."

Sir Alex Ferguson also congratulated Guardiola on his induction, saying: "Pep, I am delighted to welcome you to the Hall of Fame. Your love and passion for football has always been evident and such an honour should never be underestimated."

Before Guardiola, coaches such as Carlo Ancelotti, Jose Mourinho, Rafael Benitez, Unai Emery, Jurgen Klopp, Arsene Wenger and other football greats have achieved this honour.

Guardiola's 1,000th coaching experience in the league will be one of the toughest tests of the season for Manchester City, with the match against Liverpool taking place at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday at 8pm.
