Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Ayatollah Mousavi stated in his Friday prayer sermons in Baghdad: “What we are witnessing today is the result of two years of resistance and great sacrifice by the people of Gaza against Israeli aggression; during this period, more than 260,000 martyrs, wounded and disabled have been sacrificed. He emphasized: Establishing a ceasefire does not mean closing the case of crimes against civilians, but rather reminds us of the need to try and punish the aggressors.
The Friday prayer leader in Baghdad strongly criticized Trump's statements, claiming that he himself had stopped the war, saying: "The one who fed the Israeli killing machine with weapons, political support, and media coverage cannot be called a man of peace." Mousavi emphasized: "The United States is the mother of evil in the region and gave Netanyahu the green light to commit these crimes."
He also strongly criticized some Arab countries and Turkey, saying: These countries entered into negotiations alongside the United States and Israel, but not only were they unable to stop the attacks, but by their silence, out of fear for the preservation of their governments, they were in effect complicit.
Ayatollah Mousavi went on to point out the change in approach of some Persian Gulf countries, saying: When these countries realized that the United States was no longer a reliable supporter for them, they turned to cooperation and dialogue with Russia, China, and Iran, and there are signs of Gulf-Russian dialogue that could change the balance of power in the region. He added: “This turn indicates their belated understanding of the end of the era of absolute reliance on Washington.”
Regarding the terms of the ceasefire, Ayatollah Mousavi explained: “The agreement includes a partial withdrawal of Israeli forces and the release of a number of Palestinian prisoners,” but warned that Netanyahu should not be trusted, as the possibility of renewed aggression exists at any moment. He emphasized: “The dissolution of the Hamas movement is not part of the terms of the agreement, and the resistance continues to stand with its strength and weapons.”
He did not consider the number of martyrs as the criterion for victory, but rather the achievement of strategic goals, adding: “The resistance won the field by imposing its own conditions and thwarting the enemy’s plan to destroy it.”
Praising the resistance leaders, Ayatollah Mousavi said: “They sacrificed their lives for the freedom of their people, while Israel, despite its media propaganda, has suffered a heavy moral and strategic defeat.”
In another part of his speech, Ayatollah Mousavi warned against the continuation of the “New Middle East” project, a project that aims to divide Arab countries and expand Israel’s influence in the region. He said: “The United States continues to try to ignite wars and perpetuate chaos by taking advantage of Israel.” According to him, “the only way to confront this plan is to rely on the strength and unity of the countries of the region.”
At the end of his sermons, the Baghdad Friday Imam called on Islamic and Arab countries to strengthen cooperation and build a power independent of American influence, saying: “If we Muslims and Arabs were united, neither Trump nor anyone else would have dared to impose our conditions, and Israel would not have been able to martyr even a single child in Gaza.” He also called on the Iraqi people to be vigilant in the coming stage, and reminded that the upcoming elections “could determine the fate of Iraq between stability and chaos.”
