Israeli Finance Minister: Ceasefire should not prevent continuation of war in Gaza
The Israeli Finance Minister, opposing the cessation of the war in Gaza, said that Tel Aviv must ensure that the recent agreement does not mean the end of the fighting and that the operation to destroy Hamas and disarm Gaza will continue.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced: After the return of Israeli prisoners from Gaza, Hamas must be destroyed.

Al Jazeera Mubasher quoted him as saying: We want the war to continue until all goals are achieved and progress is made towards occupying Gaza and applying military pressure.

Smotrich said: We fear the consequences of emptying prisons and releasing the commanders of the "generation of terrorism" and will not vote in favor of this agreement.

He emphasized: We must ensure that this agreement is not in exchange for a cessation of the war and that Israel will continue its efforts to destroy Hamas and disarm Gaza.

Smotrich added: "We must ensure that we do not return to the Oslo process and that we will never hand over our security to foreigners and that we will not compromise on our security, and that there must be no return to the categories before October 7."

He emphasized: "We will never again be deceived by artificial peace, political hugs and smiles that represent the mortgaging of the future and the payment of exorbitant costs."

In this regard, the Hebrew newspaper Ma'ariv reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has received open threats from the party of Itamar Ben-Governor, Minister of Internal Security, and that he risks losing domestic support in exchange for foreign support.

At the same time, Israeli Settlement Minister Orit Strok from the Religious Zionist Party announced that leaving the cabinet is an option on the table.

The Jewish Power Party, led by Ben-Governor, held an emergency meeting this morning to discuss the response to the agreement in Gaza. It appears that ministers from this party will vote against the ceasefire agreement, but will not leave the cabinet for now.
